Early Childhood Themes (MORE INFORMATION)
These kits are designed specifically for early childhood students' unique needs, abilities, and interests. Each kit provides a comprehensive curriculum around a theme, crossing key early childhood content areas, including math, phonemic awareness, music, and more. Original nonfiction and fiction books, both wordless and with text, are provided in both standard size and “lap size". Corresponding vocabulary concept cards are provided in full color, and the accompanying CDs provide music, interactive whiteboard activities, and more.

Components of Early Childhood Themes
Books: Developed for grades Pre-K-2, each kit features original and traditional books that center around a theme. Three types of books are included with each kit; a wordless photo book, a traditional song or rhyme book, and a concept book.
- Wordless photo book: The wordless photo book features detailed photographs that vibrantly portray the topic to engage and motivate young minds. Each wordless photo book is designed to help develop children's oral language as they discuss and create a story based on the photos.
- Traditional song or rhyme book: The traditional song or rhyme book features a song or poem related to the theme of the kit. These whimsical books are designed to provide a beautifully illustrated and familiar way for children to access and read print.
- Concept Book: The concept book is designed to introduce the thematic unit and provide pictorial support for children's understanding of the theme concepts.
Each book comes in two sizes: standard (7" x 9") and lap book (9.5" x 12"), which is perfect for teacher-directed reading.
Vocabulary Concept Cards: Also featured in each kit are colorful and engaging vocabulary concept cards, which are the core to many of the lessons. These cards provide clear and detailed photographs depicting theme-related concepts. The back of each card contains additional teaching activities designed to activate prior knowledge, develop phonemic awareness and phonics, and build knowledge and comprehension.
Digital Resources: The digital resources included are the Teacher Resource CD and the Audio CD.
- Teacher Resource CD: The Teacher Resource CD includes a variety of materials that can be used to support the content that is included in each kit. Components of the CD are:
- Books, vocabulary concept cards (with and without sentences), song lyrics, parent letters (in English and Spanish), assessment checklist (also in customizable form in a Word document), vocabulary list, recommended reading list, interactive page-turning books, video clips, interactive whiteboard activities, patterns and vocabulary word cards (in color and black and white), and bonus art.
- Audio CD: The Audio CD includes a variety of recordings that can be used to support the songs and books included in each kit. Components of the CD are:
- Audio recordings of songs (with lyrics), audio recordings of songs (instrumental), audio recording of concept book, and audio recording of traditional song or rhyme book.
Teacher's Guide: The included Teacher's Guide features clear and concise step-by-step lesson plans and provides valuable “best practices" information, differentiation suggestions, English language support, parent support, and assessment. Each lesson supports teachers with a list of materials needed, simple step-by-step procedures, extension ideas, and more. The Menu of Lesson Choices, also featured in the Teacher's Guide, makes instructional planning easy by providing a concise overview of the lesson plans for each of the 7 key areas of instruction. The Teacher's Guide also includes 6 theme-related songs, reproducible pattern pages, and vocabulary words cards. These resources are central to specific lessons and can be used to support the overall theme of the kit.
