Elections Materials Deemed Best Candidates for Distinguished Achievement Awards!

Publishers Teacher Created Materials and Shell Education both thrilled with "elections-oriented" resources voted best in their respective categories during a big election year!

Huntington Beach, CA July 11, 2008 -- Teacher Created Materials (TCM) and Shell Education (Shell) are both honored to receive the coveted 2008 Distinguished Achievement Award (DAA) from the Association of Educational Publishers (AEP). The recent announcement is timely during this presidential election year for two instructional products that are designed to help teachers educate students about local, state, and national elections.

Winning the AEP award for Primary Sources: Elections kit was exciting news for Teacher Created Materials and the timing could not have been any better. Heading into the home stretch of this year's elections plus winning the Distinguished Achievement Award definitely put this resource in the winner's circle. Created in a convenient kit format, this easy-to-implement resource won in the social studies Curriculum Package category for grades 6-8. The Primary Sources: Elections kit provides teachers with authentically recreated documents and photographs combined with a timesaving Teacher's Guide and Teacher Resource CD to supplement social studies curriculum.

Shell Education also reveled in winning the 2008 DAA award for Elections, a book that guides teachers into simulations and activities such as running a simulated election right in the classroom. It includes ready-to-use lesson plans and activities plus Teacher Resource CD to help teach the elections process. Elections won in the Social Studies Instruction division for grades 6-8 in the Teacher Resources, Activity Books category.
