Description:

It seems everybody has a Web page on the Internet. If you had a school or classroom Web page, you could generate greater enthusiasm from students and parents and promote better learning. But how do you set up a Web page for your school or classroom, especially if you're not too familiar with computer technology?

A Beginner's Guide to Creating School & Classroom Web Pages is a low-key, clearly explained seminar on how your school or classroom can "get on the Net." With your Web page, you can establish school-to-home communications and enhance learning both in and out of the classroom. You'll learn how to publish your Web pages with any Internet-connected computer at home or school.

Benefits You Will Receive from This Workshop:

  • Use your Web pages to share student accomplishments with parents, relatives, the school, and the world.
  • Determine ways to customize the Internet to your curriculum, not the other way around.
  • Learn how to use your own custom Web pages to implement telecommunications projects based on classroom activities you are currently doing.
  • See how other schools are using this technology to open their classrooms to the vast educational potential of the Internet.
  • Find out how to set up projects that your students can do along with students in other states or even in other countries.
  • Know where to collect valuable Internet resources you can use on your own Web pages.
  • Gain valuable tips about maintaining your site.
  • Receive information about how to publish an online newsletter for parents.
  • Discover how Web authoring can be an important online and offline tool for students.
  • Receive tips and techniques that will help you avoid major and minor pitfalls.
  • See where you can receive free and low-cost software to create Web pages, free templates, graphics, and other media to enhance your pages.
  • Find out about companies that will host your Web pages at little or no cost.
