Exploring Nonfiction: A Differentiated Content-Area Reading Program teaches nonfiction reading skills and strategies to help students understand and interpret content-area text. The standards-based lessons and nonfiction text cards at two levels are differentiated to meet the needs of all learners. The high-interest cards, developed by TIME FOR KIDS® are divided into four content areas and incorporate standards-based science, social studies, language arts, and mathematics topics, with a variety of types of nonfiction text. The differentiated lessons provide strategies for English language learners, above-level students, and below-level students. Academic vocabulary and fluency strategy practice are also provided for each lesson. Together, these lessons and cards teach the skills and strategies to read nonfiction successfully.
