Use original documents and photographs as well as letters, maps, cartoons, and posters to help students view history as real events with causes and effects.
Each kit includes:

The documents, letters, maps, and other primary sources are provided in both an authentic-looking format as well as in the book for reproduction.

On the back of each photograph you will find activities such as:
- Background Information for teachers and students.
- Analyzing History section with questions and activities based on Bloom's Taxonomy.
- Historical Writing section with fiction and nonfiction writing assignments.
- History Challenge section with fun extension ideas for the students.
A CD-ROM
The CD-ROM has copies of the main sixteen primary sources and photographs, additional documents and photographs from the time period, and activities to support and enrich the lessons in the book.
Teacher's Guide
- Lesson plans with objectives, discussion questions, suggestions for using the primary sources, and extension ideas.
- Historical background pages for each of the primary sources being studied.
- Student activity pages allow flexibility for whole class, small group, or individual work.
- Standards: Each kit meets the NCSS standards for primary source documents. A chart listing each lesson and the corresponding standards is available on the CD-ROM.
- Document-based assessment section prepares students for essays found on many standardized tests.
