Debby Murphy, M.A.Ed.

Presenter, Building Vocabulary

As an experienced national literacy consultant and coach, Debby Murphy provides training on current literacy topics. Speaking and presenting in various venues for over 20 years, Debby is also a presenter to various school districts throughout Texas and the United States and works with school literacy teams to develop school-wide literacy goals, initiate plans for goal implementation, and collaborates with staff on effective reading/writing instruction strategies. Murphy was also a senior author of Developmental Learning Materials (DLM) Springboards to Learning (former Texas state kindergarten adoption), and DLM Beginning Milestones (former Texas state pre-kindergarten adoption).

Backed by a 30-year history of working in public schools, Debby most recently served as District Reading Specialist for Richardson Independent School District, and previously was a Literacy Lead Teacher and classroom teacher for 23 years.

Lori Kamola, M.A.Ed.

Presenter, Building Vocabulary

Lori Kamola is an Editorial Director with Teacher Created Materials, responsible for managing the development of curriculum products and professional development resources. She has developed many award-winning resources particularly in the area of language arts and is also a contributing author of Assessing Comprehension Thinking Strategies, Exploring Nonfiction: A Differentiated Content-Area Reading Program, and other reading comprehension resources. Prior to working at Teacher Created Materials, Lori taught at the elementary level for several years and later served as a reading coach for Grades K–6. She has presented for the International Reading Association, the National Staff Development Council, and other trade shows on content literacy connections and assessment in language arts.

Lori received a Masters Degree and Reading Specialist Credential from California State University Fullerton, Bachelor of Arts degree from University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Multiple Subject and Cross-Cultural Language and Academic Development Credential at St. Mary’s College.
