Presenter, Exploring Science through Literacy
Currently teaching technology related classes at the district level in Beaverton, Oregon, Eric also presents workshops, seminars, and sessions to educators at various venues and conferences around the country. Eric has authored, coauthored, and edited several educational resources for Teacher Created Materials including the award-winning TechTools Resource Kits series.
His background in the field of science is very extensive and includes the development of veterinary diagnostic products currently on the market, and featured article in the Journal of Clinical Microbiology.
Dona Herweck Rice
Presenter, Exploring Science through Literacy
As Editorial Director for Teacher Created Materials, Dona’s focus is literacy across the curriculum and all grade levels. With 20 years in educational publishing experience, Dona authored, edited, or managed hundreds of educational resources in all content areas. Recently, Dona developed the award-nominated Science Readers series among other award-winning products.
Dona began her career as a preschool teacher, and then taught middle school as a language arts, honors writing, and speech-and-drama instructor. She earned her bachelor’s degree magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa at the University of Southern California and earned her secondary education credential at the University of California, Berkeley, where she studied education in the prestigious Bay Area Writing Project.
