On vacation in Hawaii, a brother and sister explore Hawaii Volcanoes National Park with their parents. The siblings meet two park rangers who introduce them to Pele, the goddess of fire and volcanoes. They explore the myths and stories about Pele and start to understand that although lava can be dangerous, it can also create new land like the Hawaiian Islands.
