Sonja Bloetner, M.A., Pre-K-12 Supervisor of the Division of ESOL/Bilingual Programs in the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), is a fourteen-year veteran in public education. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in Spanish. She also holds a master’s degree in instructional systems design and development with certification in English for
Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), K-12, from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. She also holds additional certifications in school administration. During her tenure as an educator, Sonja taught a range of both Spanish and ESOL
classes at the elementary and secondary levels. As an instructional specialist, she has also written curriculum for elementary ESOL students and designed professional development for both ESOL staff and administrators.
