As an Academic Officer for Teacher Created Materials, Jamey Acosta leads teacher training sessions and collaborates with school districts for instructional planning while also assisting in the development and alignment of educational content. Jamey is an accomplished educator with a strong commitment to supporting multilingual learners. Formerly serving as the English Learner Teacher on Special Assignment (EL TOSA) and EL Coordinator for Upland Unified School District, she played a pivotal role in developing and implementing systems that enhance the success of multilingual students, including those in the Dual Language Immersion Academy. Ms. Acosta led district-wide initiatives aimed at improving ELD implementation, streamlining the reclassification process, and advancing professional development for teachers (TK-12) on effective instructional practices for multilingual learners. In recognition of her dedication and advocacy for students, Jamey was honored as a 2024 Countywide Award recipient by the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS). Her leadership extends across the district and school sites, where she provides essential guidance for English Learner programs and services. Before her current role, Ms. Acosta served as a Reading Specialist at Upland Elementary School, where she fostered a passion for literacy in her students. With a Master of Science in Education (Literacy and Reading), a Reading Specialist Credential, and a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies with a Literacy Option, she has a robust educational background that complements her practical experience. Additionally, she has worked as an educational consultant, delivering training nationwide, further cementing her advocacy for all students, especially multilingual learners.

Chris Amirault, Ph.D., served for two decades as the director of NAEYC-accredited Early Head Start, preschool, and state PK programs in Rhode Island and Oklahoma. He was president of the Rhode Island Association for the Education of Young Children for several years and has also served in many national leadership capacities, including as chair of the council for NAEYC Accreditation, a member of the NAEYC Affiliate Advisory Council, a founding facilitator of NAEYC’s Diversity & Equity Interest Forum, and on the NAEYC working groups for developmentally appropriate practice and equity. Dr. Amirault received a Ph.D. in cultural studies from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in early childhood education at Brown University, the Community College of Rhode Island, the University of Oklahoma, and elsewhere, and he served as director of the Institute for Elementary and Secondary Education at Brown. He is the author of Sparking Learning in Young Children: Classroom Best Practices and co-author of Finding Your Way Through Conflict: Strategies for Early Childhood Educators. In addition, he has published articles in several early childhood journals and has presented many times at state and national early childhood conferences.

She served as a gifted coordinator, literacy coach, adjunct professor, and on the board of the Indiana State Literacy Association. A highlight of her career was being named one of the 10 teachers who awed and inspired the Today Show in 2019. Shannon is also an award-winning author and TEDx speaker. Kara Ball is an Academic Officer for Teacher Created Materials, where she leads professional development for educators nationwide across a wide range of content areas, including science, STEAM, artificial intelligence, math, ELA, social studies, early childhood, and special education. She is especially passionate about inquiry-based learning and its role in deepening student engagement and understanding—particularly within science and social studies instruction. Before joining TCM, Kara served as a district elementary STEM education specialist for Baltimore City Public Schools. In that role, she supported 131 schools through curriculum development, educator training, program evaluation, and resource management, helping to elevate STEM education across the district. Kara holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Special Education from Towson University and a Master of Science in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment from Walden University. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Innovative Education at Walden. A National Board-Certified Teacher in Early Childhood since 2014, Kara brings a wealth of classroom and leadership experience to her work, with a deep commitment to empowering educators and supporting student success through hands-on, inquiry-driven instruction.

Jordana Benone has over 20 years of educational experience both in and out of the classroom and is currently an English Teacher at Santa Monica High School in California. She is thrilled to be teaching in her own backyard, enjoying the shared experiences and sense of community that comes from being a part of your neighborhood school. Jordana has been part of the Teacher Created Materials team since 2013 as an Academic Officer and Educational Consultant. She has developed national presentations and provided customized professional development for TCM curriculum resources and Shell Education professional resources that are inclusive of the most current educational research and best practices. She holds a Masters of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from Lesley University, as well as Masters of Arts in Educational Administration from Concordia University.

Almitra L. Berry, Ed.D. is a nationally recognized speaker, author, and consultant on the topic of culturally and linguistically diverse learners in America’s K12 education system. Dr. Berry’s research focuses on equity and academic achievement for marginalized learners – particularly in majority-of-color, low-wealth, large, urban school districts. During her extensive career, Dr. Berry has worked with leaders and systems throughout the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean. She has presented at scores of national and international conferences on equity, leadership, curriculum reform, and meeting the needs of historically underserved and disenfranchised learners. She calls upon educators and educational leaders to evaluate policy, curriculum, instruction, supervision, and professional learning with a lens focused on equity. Dr. Berry is a graduate of the University of California, Davis holding a B.A. in political science/public administration, an M.Ed. in curriculum and instruction, and an Ed.D. in educational leadership with a specialization in curriculum and instruction. She is also host of the podcast Educational Equity Emancipation and author of the book Effecting Change for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Learners, as well as numerous other articles addressing educational equity.

Dr. Jennifer M. Bogard is an accomplished educator, author, and consultant with a deep passion for integrating literacy and the arts into education. She is currently an adjunct professor at Lesley University, where she teaches courses on literacy and arts integration, and an independent consultant, working with schools and educators to promote innovative instructional practices. With a Ph.D. in Educational Studies from Lesley University, Dr. Bogard's research delved into reading practices and school and family relations of second graders with reading struggles, reflecting her commitment to understanding and addressing literacy challenges. Her extensive teaching experience includes roles as a literacy coach and elementary school teacher, where she earned recognition as Teacher of the Year. Dr. Bogard has co-authored several resources within the popular Integrating the Arts Across the Curriculum series for Shell Education and has written numerous literature guides for Penguin and Random House, along with peer-reviewed journal articles. She is also the author of children’s books, including The ABCs of Plum Island, Massachusetts, which received a favorable review from Kirkus. Beyond her writing, Dr. Bogard actively shares her expertise at professional conferences, conducts workshops, and mentors educators on best practices for integrating arts into instruction. Her work is widely regarded for making learning more dynamic and accessible, particularly through her creative approaches to literacy and curriculum design.

Nadia Kenisha Bynoe is an experienced educator in the Toronto District School Board, having taught in French Immersion Kindergarten and currently as an Early Reading Coach for multiple schools. In addition to her teaching role, Ms. Bynoe instructs the Kindergarten and Reading Additional Qualification course at York University and the Elementary Teacher Federation of Ontario. In addition to co-authoring The Gift of Playful Learning from Shell Education Publishing, Ms. Bynoe is also a published author of children's books. These books address important topics related to social justice, specifically delving into the nuanced aspects of skin complexion and shadeism, thereby promoting a deeper understanding of diversity. She holds a Master of Education from the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education and a Bachelor of Education with a focus on Urban Education and Native Studies from Windsor University. Ms. Bynoe is passionate about fostering equity and anti-bias approaches to teaching and learning, particularly in the early years.

Marva Cappello, Ph.D., is a Professor of Literacy Education at San Diego State University where she teaches masters courses in literacy as well as doctoral courses in qualitative research methods. Dr. Cappello is the Director of the SDSU/CGU Joint Doctoral Program in Education whose students are “committed to research on social justice and equitable educational outcomes for all students.” She is also the Director and Founder of the Center for Visual Literacies (CVL), which focuses on visual-based methods as equitable and inclusive practice for literacy pedagogy and qualitative research. Dr. Cappello is the co-author of the Shell Education professional resource, Get the Picture: Visual Literacy in Content-Area Instruction.Dr. Cappello’s extensive professional experience is supported with a solid educational background. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from the Rochester Institute of Technology, New York, where she holds a minor in literature. After receiving her BFA, she earned her M.S. in Education in Elementary Education, Concentration on Reading from the City University of New York, Hunter College and lastly earned her Ph.D. in Education in Language, Literacy, and Learning from the University of Southern California.

Kim Carlton is a Senior Academic Officer for Teacher Created Materials, where she leads professional development sessions for educators nationwide, specializing in literacy, writing instruction, and curriculum implementation. In her role, she supports districts with strategic planning, teacher coaching, and training aligned to TCM curriculum as well as Shell Education and Free Spirit Publishing resources. Kim brings decades of experience in education, having served as Director of Secondary Language Arts, where she oversaw instruction and curriculum for grades 7–12. Her work in education also includes roles as an instructional specialist, district literacy coach, and award-winning classroom teacher—earning recognition as Secondary Teacher of the Year. In addition to her roles in leadership, Kim taught pre-service educators for 14 years at Region X Education Service Center and is a Diamond-Level Abydos Writing Trainer, having facilitated 15 summer writing institutes for teachers. She has been published in Teacher Magazine and contributed to Shell Education’s What the Science of Reading Says About Writing. Her upcoming book, Short Texts, Big Impact: 35 Strategies for Strengthening Reading and Writing Skills, is set to publish in July 2025. Kim holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and History from Texas A&M University and a Master of Educational Administration from Texas A&M University–Commerce.

Dr. John Lando Carter is an associate professor of education at Middle Tennessee State University. Dr. Carter began his teaching career in 2008 as a secondary English language arts and creative writing teacher in Rutherford County, Tennessee. He joined the Assessment, Learning, and Student Success Ed.D. Program as a faculty member at MTSU in 2017 and became the interim Director of Teaching Excellence in 2022. In addition to being an accomplished educator, Dr. Carter is also a published author. His commitment to improving educational practices and student outcomes has been a driving force throughout his career. Dr. Carter is a three-time MTSU graduate with a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in English and a Doctor of Education in Assessment, Learning, and School Improvement. After graduating with his bachelor’s degree, he served as a graduate teaching assistant for the English department while completing his master’s in English. He then went on to teach in the local K–12 school system for nine years. Dr. Carter’s extensive educational background and diverse experiences have equipped him with a deep understanding of both classroom instruction and educational leadership.

Maureen Cassidy has been serving the students and educators in the state of Maryland for 32 years. During her 12 years in the classroom, she taught grades 2–12, including special education, earth science, physics, chemistry, and algebra. Maureen has spent seven years working as the elementary math content specialist in Charles County where she was responsible for the implementation of the curriculum, providing professional learning for teachers and administrators, with an emphasis on formative assessment and using that information to guide instruction. She analyzed the data to make instructional decisions for a diverse population. She held the role of president for Maryland Council for Supervisors of Mathematics for four years. Previously, Maureen was the special education math teacher specialist for students in grades K–12. She helped teachers examine student data to create Individualized Education plans for mathematics. She would model lessons and provide professional learning for all teachers who worked with students with different abilities. Maureen has earned two master’s degrees, one from Loyola College and the other from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. Maureen’s educational achievements reflect her dedication to higher education and her pursuit of expertise in multiple areas. Her strong educational background and multiple degrees has enabled her to develop a strong foundation of knowledge and skills in her chosen fields.

Jemelleh Coes is currently the Director of Teacher Leadership Programs at Mount Holyoke College where she also develops curriculum and teaches graduate courses. Her role as Director of Teacher Leadership Programs highlights her expertise in preparing and supporting educators in leadership roles. Prior to working at the collegiate level, Jemelleh was a classroom teacher for Bulloch County Schools in Georgia and a field supervisor for the University of Georgia. One of the notable achievements in her career was being honored as Georgia’s Teacher of the Year in 2013–2014. This prestigious recognition speaks to her exceptional teaching skills, dedication, and impact on students’ lives. Jemelleh has a strong educational background earning a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Georgia Southern University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Theory and Practice from the University of Georgia. Throughout her college years and her time teaching, Jemelleh has been an active member of the community by serving in several advisory positions, such as a board member on the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education Advisory, an academic oversight chair on the Georgia Cyber Academy Board of Directors and a co-chair on the NAACP State of Georgia Education Committee.

Cathy Collier has been an educator for more than 30 years, with a variety of roles, most notedly as a kindergarten teacher and reading specialist for K-2 Title 1 and non-Title 1 schools with Chesapeake Public Schools. In the role of reading specialist, Cathy was responsible for data collection, interventions, reporting, and professional development throughout her school site and her district where she also worked with curriculum development. Cathy’s passion is curriculum and learning practices within the early childhood classroom and she has channeled that passion into her new Shell Education professional resource, The Road to Independent Reading and Writing. Cathy has spoken at numerous state and national conferences and is a member of several leading literacy associations, including the Virginia State Literacy Association for the last 20 years where she served as Conference Chair/Vice-President, and President, and being elected to the International Literacy Association Board of Directors in 2015 where she served for three years, and was a member of the Global Literacy Committee which focused on literacy opportunities for children worldwide. Cathy has received numerous accolades for her work, most recently as a Darden Fellow at Old Dominion University (her alma mater) for her contributions to literacy.

Sally Creel, K-12 STEM & Innovation Supervisor for Cobb County Schools in Georgia, has spent the last 28 years as an educator, science and STEM administrator working with leaders, teachers, and K–12 students. She has served as the President of the Georgia Science Supervisors Association and Science Teaching Association. Sally also works as an educational consultant for Teacher Created Materials as well as several other organizations including the National Science Teaching Association, Georgia DOE, Kennesaw State University, Picture Perfect Science, and various federal grants. In addition, Sally has served as a consultant and contributing author on a number of publications including TCM’s Smithsonian STEAM Readers series. Dr. Creel earned a Bachelor of Science in Childhood Education from Shorter College in Georgia, a Master of Education in Early Childhood Education from Piedmont College in Georgia, and her doctorate in Teacher Leadership from Kennesaw State University.

Jasmine Davis has been teaching in Chandler Unified School District in Phoenix, Arizona since 2015. During her tenure, she has filled a variety of roles including elementary and middle school teacher, equity facilitator, parent liaison, RTI coordinator, and district assessment specialist. These positions demonstrate her commitment to addressing the needs of individual students and ensuring equity and inclusivity in education. Her areas of expertise include English language development best practices, developing an opportunity mindset, and filling educational gaps through prescriptive practices. Jasmine’s passion for addressing the needs of individual students through ongoing assessment practices, increasing student achievement, and fostering self-efficacy showcases her commitment to providing a personalized and impactful educational experience for her students. Jasmine graduated from Arizona State University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education. She then went on to Northern Arizona University earning a master’s degree in educational leadership. Jasmine is also certified in Arizona Elementary Education (1–8) and Structured English Immersion (K–12). She was nominated for Arizona Teacher of the Year in 2010 and was recognized as a Rodel Exemplary Teacher in 2012.

Dr. Darlyne de Haan, a Fulbright Scholar, former forensic scientist, environmental chemist, instructional specialist, and recent author, brings over 20 years of experience in education, including roles as a teacher and administrator at both the building and district levels. A past director of curriculum and instruction for a large Title I school district in New Jersey, Dr. de Haan is a recipient of the prestigious Fulbright Administrator award through the Fulbright Leaders for Global Schools program. As an English language specialist for the U.S. Department of State, she continues to support educators globally. In this role, she was selected to keynote Saudi Arabia’s National English Language Teaching Conference and lead workshops for teacher trainees and university faculty. During her tenure in district leadership, she spearheaded transformative initiatives such as launching a high school aviation program enabling students to earn drone and pilot licenses, and modernizing the district’s e-sports facility, leading the team to a first-place finish in 2024. Driven by her mission to make science accessible, exciting, and engaging for all students, Dr. de Haan develops curriculum for after-school STEM/STEAM and summer programs. She has created a range of educational resources and video content for teachers, parents, and communities to enhance science learning beyond the classroom. Dr. de Haan holds a doctorate in Organizational Leadership with a focus on multilingual learners and teacher self-efficacy, along with dual master’s degrees in Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Leadership. An adjunct chemistry professor and former TESOL blogger, she is a sought-after keynote speaker and has presented at conferences internationally, nationally, and at the state level. Her expertise continues to impact educators and inspire audiences across diverse educational settings.

Dr. Stephanie Dewing is an assistant professor of clinical education at the University of Southern California’s Rossier School of Education. In this role, Dr. Dewing supports teacher candidates with knowledge and strategies to foster effective language and literacy development of multilingual and English learners across all grade levels and content areas. In addition to her professorship, Dr. Dewing is the chair of USC’s Bilingual Authorization Advisory Board and an active member of the MAT and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Language) governance committees as well as the Advancing Racial Equity Committee. She was also nominated to serve as a Faculty Fellow for the Center for Excellence in Teaching and the Committee on Teaching and Learning for USC. Dr. Dewing began her career teaching social studies and English at a bilingual school in Quito, Ecuador. Upon returning to the United States, she taught English as a second language, Spanish heritage classes, and co-taught Algebra at the secondary and post-secondary levels for about 10 years. In 2003, Dr. Dewing transitioned into higher education at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs to help develop their Masters of TESOL program while also serving on the board of the Colorado TESOL organization. She continues to support teachers and administrators as a Colorado Department of Education approved provider of professional development in the area of culturally and linguistically diverse education. In addition to her teaching credential in Spanish (K–12) and Linguistically Diverse Education (K–12), Dr. Dewing has both a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching of Spanish and a Master of Arts in Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, as well as a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Innovation from the University of Colorado, Denver. Additionally, Dr. Dewing is co-author of Shell Education’s 2022 release of Teaching and Supporting English Learners: A Guide to Welcoming and Engaging Newcomers.

Chris Dier is a passionate and innovative social studies educator based in New Orleans, known for making history relevant, inclusive, and engaging for students. With over 15 years of classroom experience, Chris centers his teaching on culturally responsive practices, inquiry-based instruction, and student empowerment through critical historical thinking. He currently teaches at Benjamin Franklin High School, where he helps students connect the past to contemporary issues, emphasizing civic engagement and equity. He is the 2020 Louisiana Teacher of the Year, a 2020 finalist for National Teacher of the Year, and the 2021 Gilder Lehrman Louisiana Teacher of the Year. These and other honors reflect his deep commitment to excellence in history education and his enduring impact on both students and fellow educators. Beyond the classroom, Chris consults on curriculum design, leads professional development sessions nationwide, and contributes to state-level social studies standards and frameworks. His work explores how history education can help students navigate a complex world—especially during times of polarization and social change. Chris is a published author whose work brings attention to overlooked moments in American history and promotes inclusive historical narratives. He has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, NPR, and other national media for his thought leadership in education. He holds a B.A. in History from East Texas Baptist University, along with master’s degrees in Teaching and Educational Administration from the University of New Orleans. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Curriculum Development, focusing on student-centered and justice-oriented approaches to social studies education.

Dr. Lisa M. Donovan is an influential educator, author, and researcher with a strong focus on arts integration and its impact on education. Currently, she is a professor in the Fine and Performing Arts Department at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA), where she teaches courses such as Community Arts and Education, Arts Integration, and Digital Storytelling. Mary Hanson is currently an Associate Teaching Professor in the College of Education at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs (UCCS) with an MA in TESOL from the University of London and a BA in Elementary Education from Michigan State University. For the past nine years, Mary has taught nineteen different courses within the MA TESOL program, the BA in Inclusive Elementary Education Program, the Alternative Licensure Program, and the BA in Inclusive Early Childhood Program at UCCS. She has also developed and run a TESOL practicum course at a partner institution in La Roche sur Yon, France for seven years.  Prior to her appointment in the College of Education, Mary was the Associate Director of International Affairs at UCCS, where she developed and managed the daily running of the Intensive English Program, oversaw the development and implementation of International Teacher Training Programs, and provided professional development training to teachers at the Daegu English Village in Daegu, South Korea. For the past eight years, Mary has also been providing professional development for K-12 teachers around working with English Learners and their families and became a Colorado Department of Education approved provider to deliver professional development around culturally and linguistically diverse education. Within Colorado, Mary has also designed and taught in newcomer programs at both the middle and high school levels and taught in an adult and family education program in a large urban school district. Dr. Susan Loveless is the elementary math specialist and elementary instructional coaching supervisor for the fourth largest school district in Tennessee, where she is responsible for supporting teachers, coaches, math leads, and administrators in the implementation of effective mathematics instruction for over 20,000 students. Dr. Loveless has supported her state through numerous leadership roles, including serving as the elementary math expert lead for the state of Tennessee, where she coordinated the creation of Instructional Focus Documents that outline best practices for standards-aligned math instruction and developed training to be implemented statewide on the use of these documents. She has also served her state on the standards revision committee, item writing and reviewing committees, and textbook reviewer.  During her tenure as an educator, Dr. Loveless has served as an elementary math teacher, instructional coach, administrator, and, for the last 8 years, served in her current role as the math specialist. Sara McDaniel joined TCM in 2012 as the sales consultant in Louisiana and parts of Texas, and transitioned into an education consultant in 2018, specializing in education technology, in-classroom coaching, and is a generalist for grades K-5. Dr. Eugenia Mora-Flores is the Assistant Dean of Teacher Education in the Rossier School of Education at the University of Southern California (USC) where she is responsible for oversight and coordination of the teacher education degree programs. Additionally, Dr. Mora-Flores is a Professor of Clinical Education with Distinction and teaches courses on first and second language acquisition, social critical analysis, and literacy development for elementary and secondary students. Her research interests include studies on effective practices in developing the language and literacy skills of multilingual learners in grades Pre-K–12. Over the course of her 25 plus years as an educator, Dr. Mora-Flores has become a well-known and well-respected expert in the field of multilingual learner academic support. This can be seen through her many honors including being named MAT Professor of the Year in 2016 and 2018 (a title awarded by the students of USC) as well as USC’s Teaching Excellence Award in 2018. Her impact in education was recognized through the 2018 Community Achievement Award which recognizes professors who have gone above and beyond for their students and who have made meaningful contributions to the educations of students of color and/or who identify as LGBTQ. Dr. Mora-Flores has written numerous books in the area of literacy and academic language development (ALD) for English learners, including the popular Shell Education resources Connecting Content and Language for English Language Learners and Integrated English Language Development: Supporting English Learners Across the Curriculum. She has also co-authored Shell Education’s Science for English Language Learners: Developing Academic Language through Inquiry-Based Instruction, Teaching and Supporting English Learners: A Guide to Welcoming and Engaging Newcomers, and four publications on Strategies for Connecting Content and Language for English Language Learners across the curriculum. Dr. Myck-Wayne graduated from California State University, Northridge with a Master of Arts in Special Education-Deaf Education. Dr. Myck-Wayne is currently the principal investigator for Project ABC, a U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs grant, where she trains ECSE teachers and speech and language therapists to work collaboratively with young children. Dr. Myck-Wayne has been a member of the CTC Board of Reviewers for 20 years and the co-chair of the California Association of Professors of Early Childhood Special Education for 11 years. Kareem Neal has been teaching for nearly 30 years, specifically within the Phoenix Union High School District since 2007, where he specializes in social studies and science for students with cognitive delays in a self-contained special education classroom. He also developed the district's social studies curriculum for self-contained programs and serves as a restorative justice trainer. In 2019, Kareem was named Arizona Teacher of the Year and was inducted into the National Teachers Hall of Fame in 2022. He is a 2019-2021 Understood Teacher Fellow, a program that equips teachers with leadership skills and deeper knowledge of learning differences, enabling them to become change agents for students who learn and think differently. He sits on the boards of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) and the National Network of State Teachers of the Year (NNSTOY) and received an honorary doctorate from Northern Arizona University for his contributions to special education. Kareem’s passion for fostering connection and inclusion in schools stems from his awareness that students with learning differences often feel marginalized. Reflecting on how Black students also frequently perceive education spaces as unwelcoming, he committed to creating inclusive environments for all students. As a restorative justice trainer, Kareem works to build community by addressing biases and encouraging meaningful connections. She has worked as a school principal of two STEAM magnet schools, district curriculum author for the elementary school math curriculum, district level SEL leadership team member, assistant principal, math instructional coach, school climate specialist, middle school math teacher, middle school writing teacher, elementary school teacher, PBIS Coach, SEL facilitator, and a yoga teacher. Dr. Smith was appointed to serve as an USC Center for Excellence in Teaching Faculty Fellow to support the school’s effort to promote teaching excellence. Moreover, she serves as the course lead and course coordinator for the MAT elementary math pedagogy courses. In this role, she leads a team of adjunct faculty who provide instruction to MAT multiple subject teacher candidates, and she teaches courses on mathematics and educational equity. Mitzi Stover has over 27 years of experience teaching English and Speech at the high school and community college level. She is currently serving as a high school College and Career Coordinator where she is doing what she loves--working with students in finding their paths after high school. Mitzi was one of the forerunners in online education and was the first teacher in her district to offer a fully online English class in 2010. She has continued to be an advocate of using technology to support student learning and works to humanize the online experience in order to reach students. Mitzi holds a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Education, a California Single-Subject Teaching Credential in English, a Master of Arts in English, and an Adult Education Credential specializing in English, English as a Second Language (ESL), and Spanish. She is also a member of the TED Innovative Educator program and continues to collaborate on projects for TED with educators worldwide.

Angelique Thompson is a respected reading and kindergarten specialist with extensive teaching experience in the Toronto District School Board. She currently serves as an early reading coach, collaborating with multiple schools. She has been involved in curriculum writing and editing for the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario. Notably, she received the Elementary Teachers of Toronto Excellence in Teaching Equity Award in 2009 and The Toronto District School Board's Celebrating Excellence in the TDSB Award for Program/Project Excellence in 2010. She is also a recipient of the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario Writer's Award for Women's Programs in 2019. Ms. Thompson is the co-author of Shell Education Publishing’s The Gift of Playful Learning and is known for her expertise in play-based learning as well as her commitment to promoting equity and social justice in early years classrooms. Sharlene Turner most recently served as Vice Principal of Elementary at the British School of Panama, where she led teaching and learning initiatives and oversaw the successful induction of newly qualified teachers. As an elementary math specialist, she spearheaded the implementation of a new school-wide math curriculum. Sharlene also contributed to the Professional Association of International Schools, collaborating with educators to enhance teaching standards across international schools in Panama. With a 20-year teaching career, including a decade in inner-city London schools and experience in the United States and Latin America, Sharlene is deeply committed to improving outcomes for disadvantaged students and supporting English learners. She is the author of a parenting curriculum designed to increase family engagement and improve educational results for underserved students. Sharlene holds a bachelor’s degree from Roehampton University and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the Institute of Education in London. Her ongoing commitment to educational excellence and equity drives her work, as she continues to advocate for inclusive practices and ensure all students have the support and resources needed to succeed.

Dr. Ingrid Twyman is an education consultant for Teacher Created Materials and owner of TwyLight Solutions, LLC. Ingrid is extremely passionate about building teacher and leader capacity to enact culturally responsive-sustaining practices and create cultures of equity so that all students receive access to a high-quality education. She is a former middle-school teacher, principal, instructional coach, and teacher residency director who partnered with Latino students and families in northeast Los Angeles for over 16 years. She holds an Ed. D. from the University of Southern California in Urban Educational Leadership with a focus on Teacher Education in Multicultural Societies. Dr. Twyman currently designs and facilitates professional development modules and experiences on topics such as culturally responsive-sustaining classrooms, classroom management, multilingual instruction, and Social Emotional Learning and is an adjunct faculty member at the Alder Graduate School of Education.

Doris Vazquez is a retired classroom teacher. Prior to retiring, she worked in the Multicultural Education Department in Osceola County, Florida. She was responsible for providing support, mentoring, and modeling lessons for teachers. She created content and facilitated on-going professional development for incoming and experienced paraprofessionals, teachers, and administrators throughout the district. She also ensured assigned schools were complying with district and state mandates. She collaborated with ESOL Educational Specialists for the referral, placement and re-evaluation process for ELL students. Ms. Vazquez holds a Master of Science degree at Nova Southeastern University. She is certified in Elementary Education, Exceptional Student Education and World Languages Spanish. Dr. Nancy Walker is a professor in the College of Education and Organizational Leadership at the University of La Verne, where she has been a leading member of the faculty for over 24 years. In her role, she has shaped education programs, guided curriculum development, and mentored countless future educators. In addition to her academic leadership, Dr. Walker serves as an education consultant for Teacher Created Materials and is the co-author of the Shell Education professional resource Get the Picture: Visual Literacy in Content-Area Instruction. She has authored numerous publications focused on instructional strategies, content-area literacy, and teacher development. Dr. Walker holds a B.A. in English, an M.S. in Education, and a Ph.D. in Literacy. She is currently engaged in coaching teachers, literacy coaches, and principals in both foundational and content-area literacy instruction, helping to build capacity and deepen instructional practice across educational settings. Before entering higher education, Dr. Walker taught middle school language arts in the Hawthorne and Bakersfield City School Districts. She served as a Title I coordinator and taught both general education and GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) courses. As a mentor teacher, she supported new educators and provided professional development in content-area literacy for K–8 teachers. Her career—from classroom teaching to university leadership—reflects a deep and sustained commitment to educator preparation, instructional excellence, and the use of visual literacy as a powerful tool for student engagement and understanding.

A decorated educator of over 25 years, Monica designs interactive workshops and keynotes that leave her participants with concrete strategies to honor students’ identities and amplify their voices. Education equity is important to her, and she has been an Equity Ambassador for the Education Civil Rights Alliance since 2015. Monica’s background is in English language arts and her unique approach to creating inclusive classroom spaces and honoring the student experience led to her becoming state teacher of the year for Texas in 2014. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English from LeMoyne-Owen College, a master’s degree in English from The University of Memphis, and an Education Specialist Degree from Walden University in 2019. Monica is currently an adjunct professor at Reach University. She serves on the boards of the National Network of State Teachers of the Year and the National Education Association Foundation. Monica was inducted into the National Teachers Hall of Fame in 2023.

Dr. Kimberly Williams is currently a high school mathematics teacher and elementary math coach and has worked as a consultant for TCM since 2013. Prior to her current position, Dr. Williams spent 10 years as a university faculty member teaching elementary and secondary mathematics as well as assessment courses. Dr. Williams’ research interests are primarily mathematics-focused in the areas of differentiated instructional practices, technology integration, virtual and hands-on manipulatives, developing conceptual understanding, higher-level questioning strategies, and trauma-informed instruction. Dr. Williams has authored or co-authored 13 national and international publications focused on high-impact instructional practices and effective hands-on professional development. She has received several awards throughout her career, including the 2018 UT Alumni Association Outstanding Teacher and 2017 Outstanding Scholarship Award for the College of Education, Health, and Behavioral Sciences. Dr. Williams holds a Doctorate in Education in Curriculum & Instruction and an Education Specialist degree in Curriculum & Instruction, both earned from Liberty University. He has served in many positions from classroom teacher, literacy coach, District Resource Trainer in the 7th largest school district in the country, and Dean of Academics. Sabrina Winkleman is an educator, mind-body coach, and national speaker who specializes in nervous system care and transformative social and emotional learning (tSEL). With nearly two decades of experience in education, she has served as a classroom teacher, instructional specialist, and SEL leader at both district and state levels. Most recently, she was the Social and Emotional Learning Specialist for the Minnesota Department of Education, where she supported schools in implementing equitable, whole-child approaches to SEL. Sabrina’s work centers on adult and student wellness through the integration of neuroscience, equity, and emotional resilience. She facilitates professional learning experiences that blend mind-body practices with evidence-based SEL strategies, supporting educators and leaders in developing compassionate, sustainable systems of care. Working as an educator for almost 20 years, Hillary Wolfe is currently the Executive Director of College, Career, and Economic Development for Fontana Unified School District in southern California. In this position, she manages Career Technical Education curriculum and instruction; writes and manages state and federal grants; and builds and maintains strategic partnerships with local colleges, community organizations, and businesses. Prior to this position, Hillary has been a director of curriculum and instruction, a coordinator of curriculum, instruction, and assessment, a coordinator of intervention and academic supports/MTSS, as well as an ELA instructional coach. As an educator, her expertise lies in the areas of career technical education, literacy, intervention, MTSS, and school improvement. In addition to her roles within the school community, Hillary has served as an academic officer and current education consultant for TCM, where she provides professional development and training on TCM curriculum materials and Shell Education professional resources. She is the co-author of the Shell Education publication, What the Science of Reading Says about Writing (2022), contributing author to What the Science of Reading Says about Word Recognition and editor for many other Shell Education professional resources. Brianna Young began her career as a middle school behavior interventionist, designing restorative spaces for young people navigating crisis and trauma. That theme continued throughout her subsequent roles as a middle school humanities teacher, magnet school founding teacher and instructional coach, education consultant, dean of academics, and university professor holding the dignity and healing of students and educators at the center of her work. Currently, she serves as a Professor of Education at Oxford Teacher’s College at Reach University and consults with schools and nonprofit organizations across the country. Brianna is passionate about trauma-informed practices, middle-level education, empowering new teachers, effective instructional coaching, innovative pedagogies, restorative justice, supporting school culture shifts, and systems change work. Obtaining her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in trauma and resilience in educational settings in 2019, Brianna began to support schools at a systems level through partnerships with organizations such as the School Crisis Recovery and Renewal Project, Magnet Schools of America, and Education Reimagined. In the summer of 2024, she will begin her doctoral work in Transformational Leadership at Moravian University.
