    Jen Jump, Academic Officer

    Jennifer A. Jump serves as a Senior Academic Officer at Teacher Created Materials. In this capacity, Ms. Jump provides expert professional development and training for school districts, educators, and educational trainers. A passionate educator with over twenty years of experience, Jennifer has dedicated her career to improving student achievement. Before joining TCM, she served as the Literacy Director for Washington, D.C.'s public school system. In this role, she led the development of an organized, content-rich ELA curriculum for grades K-5, ensuring it addressed the diverse needs of all students. Additionally, she facilitated professional learning for large groups of educators and provided individualized coaching to support improved literacy outcomes. Jennifer’s career spans various roles, including classroom teacher, instructional coach for grades K-8, and school administrator. In her administrative capacity, she supported a K-8 school, addressing both school culture and academic priorities. Prior to her work in Washington, D.C., Jennifer led a team of instructional coaches in Northern Illinois, where she played a key role in transitioning teachers to the Common Core standards and ensuring equitable access to high-quality education for all students. Her work in this capacity included professional learning and district-level support. Jennifer's extensive experience is grounded in a strong academic foundation. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Northern Iowa, a Master of Arts in Education from Viterbo University, and a Master of Arts in Administration from Grand Canyon University. Additionally, Ms. Jump is currently ABD (All But Dissertation) in her pursuit of an Educational Doctorate in K-12 Leadership. Building on her robust academic background, Jennifer has applied her expertise to the field of authorship. She has co-authored several publications focused on bridging the Science of Reading with practical classroom application, offering educators actionable insights and strategies grounded in research. The books she authored include What the Science of Reading Says about Word Recognition, What the Science of Reading Says about Reading Comprehension and Content Knowledge, and What the Science of Reading Says about Writing.
