Additionally, teacher only content like Lesson Plans and PPTs cannot be viewed by students even if assigned.  Teacher_AssignCourseContent2

4. Once you’ve selected content to assign, continue to Step 2 in the middle of the screen. Here you can assign the selected content to a class, group, or students.

5. You may choose to set a Due Date after which students will not have access to the content. You may also leave the Due Date field empty and leave the content available to students for the remainder of their license.

6. Click Save. Students will see this assigned content in their course table of contents. They will also see any assigned assessments on the student homepage.

Using Course Materials

Courses on the TCM Learning Platform contain a mixture of assessments, PDFs, and PowerPoints. All content must be assigned to students for them to access. PDFs and PowerPoints open in a document reader that contains a variety of tools including:

  • Text-to-speech: read the whole page aloud or highlight portions of text to have it read aloud.
  • Annotations: underline, highlight, add text, and other freehand tools allow teachers and students to add markup to the PDF. Markup is specific to each user and once created will persist from session to session. These options are found in the tool bar directly above the PDF.
  • Zoom In/Out: resize any document with the – and + buttons in the tool bar. This can be especially helpful when projecting pages.
  • Download/Print Options: These options are accessible in the hamburger menu in the upper left portion of the tool bar. Select Print and save as a PDF to preserve any markup within the document. Select Download to download a clean source file with no markup. All student facing PDFs contain fillable fields to support student offline usage.
  • Search: a search feature in the upper right portion of the tool bar allows you to search within the document.

Managing Classes and Creating Groups

The TCM Learning Platform integrates with district rostering systems. In most cases, your school, classes, and students will be created and managed through this process. While teachers have access to Manage Classes and Manage Students, it is recommended you work with your school or district admin to make changes.

Teachers can also create and manage Groups. This can be helpful to support students with like needs within a single class. For example, Group A can be created with students who would benefit from extension activities. When assigning extension activities, simply assign them to Group A rather than several individual students. Use the following steps to create groups:

1. From the TCM Learning Platform homepage, select Roster > Manage Groups from the left navigation.

2. If you have already created groups, you will see them here. View, manage, or edit an existing group by clicking on the group name.

3. Use the Add Group button in the upper right to create a new group.

4. Give the group a name, select the class for which this group will be associated, and use the arrows to add or remove students to this new group.

5. Click Save and your new group will appear when assigning content or filtering reports.
